"Your Name" has a gross of $175,818,172 just in Japan up to date, in the week of December 3-4, this year stated Box Office Mojo. Leading to a total of $219,435,118 in all foreign countries including Japan.
"Your Name” won Best Animated Film from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association against all the variety of all the animated films this year. Given that award, it is now set to race in the Oscar category Best Animated Film according to News Everyday.
In Japan, "Your Name" becoming the highest-grossing film this year after taking more than 20 billion yen. It's second to history in Japan with the highest earning animated film, after Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" the first to achieve that mark.
Directed by Makoto Shinkai, “Your Name” revolves around two teenagers, Mitsuha, a girl from the countryside and Taki, a boy from Tokyo. “Your Name” besides garnering a huge hit in theaters, had also influenced the tourist economy of Japan as well. The onscreen location Hida in which Taki and Mitsuha’s adventure took place, happened to attract local people and foreigners as well. Located in Itamori Japan, in Gifu Prefecture, Hida has been detailed 18.5 billion yen income for the city according to The Bitbag.
