Adele’s “25” album and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” received the top spots at Billboard’s annual Year-End List for 2016. The two were followed by songs and albums from Drake and Rihanna.
It is that time of the year where the hit songs and albums of seasoned artists, as well as that of the rookies, are ranked by Billboard based on how long it has stayed on the charts. The results are in, the chart history tallied, and the multiple Grammy winner, singer, and songwriter Adele has garnered the title of Top Billboard 200 Artist and Album.
The album “25” may have come out in 2015 last year but that hasn’t stopped it from continuing as a hot comeback for Adele. Not only is it on the Billboard 200 but the singer is also named the Top Artist and Top Female Artist. Drake comes at second place with the album “Views” but is named the Top 100 Artist.
Justin Bieber is this year’s Top Male Artist, his album “Purpose," which was released late last year as well, came at third place on the Billboard 200 and his two songs “Love Yourself” and “Sorry” at the first two ranks for the Hot 100 songs. His digital and radio presence is also palpable earning him the coveted spot for Radio Song, Radio Song Artists, Digital Song, and Digital Song Artists.
Drake’s “One Dance” succeeds Bieber’s at the 100 Songs list followed by his collaboration with Rihanna’s “Work.” It is also important to mention that Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” made it to the Billboard 200 and even the Original Broadway Cast Recording of the musical Hamilton.
Of course, “Closer” by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey is included in the Hot 100. Bryson Tiller and Zayn are the two top new artists.
