Kate Upton received the most prestigious modeling recognition, 2013 Model of the Year, presented at the annual Style Awards this week, Yahoo! Lifestyle reported Monday.
After reportedly going through a close and tough competition with fellow supermodels: Jourdan Dunn, Cara Delevinge, Coco Rocha, and Karlie Kloss, Katie Upton emerged as the winner to bring home the coveted title, which was presented at the 10th anniversary of the Style Awards at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Yahoo! stated that aside from Upton's pinup good looks it could have been her quite outspoken personality that made her shine and secured her the recognition.
"People deal with models like they are children," Kate Upton told Elle recently. "They think they can pull one over on you. It's actually funny. I'm always like, I'm about to pull something on you, and you're so focused on thinking I'm dumb you're not even going to know."
Joan Smalls, was the one who took the much-coveted recognition last year.
The 'Model of the Year' recognition is just one of Kate Upton's additions to her long-list of credentials on being one of the most stellar models.
Meanwhile, Upton has recently appeared on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
The 21-year-old model even posted a photo of herself and Arnold Palmer with the caption, "Had an amazing golf lesson today #arnoldpalmer@golfdigestmag."
According to Yahoo! Upton is not only interested in golf, but as well as in a few other sports. She even shared in 2012 that she likes horse-riding.
"I'm actually an equestrian, and I showed in the American Paint Horse Association and competed for top 20 in the nation," Kate Upton said. "So, I have my own horse and two ponies. I grew up around horses, and that really is my passion."
E! Online noted that Kate pursued athletic endeavors prior to engaging into the swimsuit and fashion world.
