Charlie Hunnam, Dakota Johnson As Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele in 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Movie Adaptation [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

Charlie Hunnam, 33, is to play Christian Grey while Dakota Johnson, 23, is to portray Anastasia Steele in the first installment of the "50 Shades of Grey" trilogy movie adaptation, CNN reported Monday.

The long wait is finally over. The most anticipated casting for the lead characters of the movie adaption of the most controversial and well-received novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is finally here.

E.L. James, the author if the novel, has confirmed it herself in the tweets she posted on Monday.

The first tweet reads: "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

Then, she followed it up with: "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

The very successful erotic and tagged BDSM-themed novel was released in 2011 and since then fans have been on the look-out for prospect actors and actresses to play the lead characters of the book after it was announced late last year that there will be a movie adaptation.

Charlie Hunnam has starred this summer in the War. Bros. film 'The Pacific Rim' and in the FX television series 'Sons of Anarchy.'

Hunnam was already rumored to play the role back on Aug. 20, when Twitch Film reported on its website that the 33-year-old actor was already in talks for the role.

Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson, the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, has appeared in 'The-Five-Year-Engagement' and '21 Jump Street.'

Sam Taylor-Johnson will be the director of the film. No news about the commencement of the filming is out as of late.

The first installment of "50 Shades of Grey" is expected to be out in theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
