Catherine Zeta-Jones' maid of honor at her wedding with Michael Douglas has spoken on the actress' behalf, saying Catherine is now "fragile" after the confirmed split, New York Post reported Monday.
After news broke Wednesday that Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas were to end their 13 years of marriage, everyone became curious on the root cause of the issue.
It was not only after People magazine has released that the two are taking some time apart to evaluate everything between them most especially their marriage that people began to become sympathetic towards the couple.
However, things have changed after Anna Walker, a UK TV host, has finally spoken on behalf of her friend.
"The next few weeks will be very tough and I'm very worried about her. This is a very traumatic time and her mental health could be adversely affected," Walker told The Daily Mail.
Reports earlier stated that Zeta-Jones had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which she publicly confirmed, and had undergone several therapies with the most recent one just this April.
"She's just had another round of treatment for her bipolar and if she can keep that in check under all this stress it will be a miracle," Walker continued.
Anna also mentioned that Catherine's mother is the one taking care of her at the moment, adding that there is also good medication to help stabilize the actress.
Although reports on their split have already been budding and resurfacing for several months now, no clear decision whether the two are going for a divorce has been confirmed.
Michael Douglas' representative said, "Michael and Catherine are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."
Douglas was spotted at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend still sporting their wedding ring; however, Walker said that the separation between the two has really pained Catherine.
"Catherine is very old-fashioned and never wanted to ever go through a divorce," Walker said. "Her parents have been together for more than 50 years and are her role models. She wanted her marriage to be like theirs."
