Bad guys gone good, good guys gone bad. The "Fast and Furious" is heading back to theaters in 2017, and Universal Pictures just released the first official trailer. "The Fate of the Furious" will be headlined by familiar faces Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, and Jason Statham.
Oscar winner Charlize Theron joins the cast as Cipher, and judging by the trailer released on Dec. 11, she's the big baddie to blame for Diesel's character abandoning his crew. "The Fate of the Furious" picks up where the "Furious 7" left off, with Diesel's Dom and Rodriguez's Letty on their honeymoon after tying the knot. Paul Walker's and Jordana Brewster's characters are just mentioned in passing, and the rest of the crew had found at least some sort of normality in their lives. The three-minute trailer gives much emphasis on "family", so much so that the word is uttered four times over the course of the trailer, ending with the Rodriguez's incredulous - and heartbreaking - "Dom! You're gonna turn your back on family?!"
In the The Guardian's review of the "Fast 8" trailer, Diesel has gone from being the hero to villain in a quick sequence that involves him spearheading a multi-vehicle crash to bring down his own crew. The good guys team up to save Dom with the help of the most unlikely candidate - Jason Statham's Owen, the rogue special forces assassin who was just trying to kill them off in the 7th film.
Jobs & Hire has previously reported that the film might be delayed because of a rift between main stars Diesel and "The Rock." The former WWE wrestler took to Instagram and voiced out his less-than-stellar opinions about working on the set of "Fast 8." Even with this, the public will still get to see "The Fate of the Furious" in cinemas on Apr. 14. 2017.
