Earlier this week, it was reported that Lamar Odom has voluntarily checked himself into rehab as he has made the choice to stay sober following his accidental overdose in 2015. Now, a new report claims that the former basketball star is going to document his road to recovery in a new reality show.
According to Us Weekly, the former L.A. Lakers player is set to star in a new TV series, which will focus on his recovery and his efforts to stay sober. No details have been released on which network the show will air.
Odom is no stranger to reality TV as he was previously featured in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” His wedding to Khloe Kardashian was filmed for the show and aired on Nov. 8, 2009. In 2011, Odom and Khloe starred in the spin-off “Khloe and Lamar,” which aired for only two seasons on E! In 2013, the reality star filed for divorce from the basketball star, but Odom made a brief return to KUWTK earlier this year after his health scare.
Meanwhile, Lamar Odom’s attorney, Walter Mosley, gave an update on how the former athlete is doing in treatment. The lawyer said that Odom is doing well.
“I have had reports from the doctors that he’s doing well,” said Mosley to E! News. “This is a preventative forward looking movement by Lamar.” The lawyer added that the 37-year-old has a lot of projects lined up for next year and that Odom will embark on a comeback tour in 2017.
It was rumored that Lamar Odom may have fallen off the wagon after his overdose last year, which sent him into a coma and required him to undergo therapy to regain his motor and cognitive skills. But TMZ Sports said that the basketball star chose to go to rehab because he feared that the upcoming days might cause him to go on a bender again.
The media outlet reports that Odom is well aware that the birthday of his late son, Jayden, is fast approaching. Jayden was born on Dec. 15, 2015, but died after six months due to Sudden Infant Death Disorder (SIDS). Moreover, sources told TMZ that Odom’s divorce from Khloe will be finalized on Saturday, Dec. 17, and since he was struggling with this, he didn’t want to be tempted to use drugs.
As previously reported by Jobs & Hire, Odom also wanted to check himself into rehab because he wants to do it for his children’s sake. The former athlete has two children with ex Liza Morales—Destiny, 18, and Lamar Odom Jr., 13.
