Amy Winehouse is set to be cast in bronze, with a statue that will be placed outside of the Camden arts venue Roundhouse, where the singer passed away in 2011.
Winehouse, who would have been celebrating her 30th birthday this week, was supposed to be commemorated by the unveiling of a statue in her likeness, which was done by sculptor Scott Eaton but it has since been delayed by her father, Mitch Winehouse, who apparently had wanted his daughter to be remembered the right way, down to the very last detail.
The singer's father had expressed his dissatisfaction with the statue, insisting that some more changes had to be made, wanting it to be absolutely perfect for her fans.
But Amy Winehouse's former boyfriend Reg Traviss, has gone on to say that any statue is not going to look exactly like the deceased singer. "It's just a statue."
A new unveiling date for the updated bronze statue has yet to be made.
Amy Winehouse was known for her distinctive look, beehive, intense eyeliner, deep, mesmerizing vocals and intriguing songs. She had gone on to worldwide acclaim upon the release of her "Back to Black" album in 2006. However she had fallen victim to the influence of drugs, suffering from severe bouts of manic depression which led to a downward spiral of her once stellar career until her untimely death at the age of 27, on July 23, 2011, of what coroners had said was alcohol poisoning. Her image in the media of being a drug addict shifted immediately upon her death, the world regretting her early demise, and the talent wasted on drugs. Her brother Alex, however, has recently disputed these claims, insisting that his late sister had died of complications arising from bulimia.
