Dumb and Dumber is back.
Comedian Jim Carrey has tweeted a photo referencing his character (a close-up shot of his character's signature chipped tooth mouth cracking a smile). The caption read: "GESS HUUZ BAK BICHEZ?" thereby officially announcing that the lovable (if not excruciatingly annoying) pals Lloyd and Harry are going to be gracing the silver screen once again with another outrageous adventure.
Reprising their roles are Jim Carrey (Lloyd Christmas) and Jeff Daniels (Harry Dune) as two golden hearted, but very simpleminded friends. In the first film, much of their adventure had them return a briefcase full of money to its owner. Reps say that the sequel will focus on the friend as they go on a road trip, but further details about the rest of the movie has remained under wraps.
Universal Studios will be handling the sequel, and the Farrelly brothers Peter and Bob, who directed the first film, will be coming back for the second.
Jeff Daniels, who is currently playing an anchorman in somber TV series The Newsroom, has said that it had been Jim Carrey's idea to get the project moving, even calling up their former directors to work with them on the film.
The lead actors may be pushing 50, but apparently they decide that the fun's not over yet. The Farrelly brothers have said that the movie, although not being a "money grab," will reportedly be a great second movie-complete with the fun story, only more blown up.
Dumb and Dumber, despite receiving mixed reviews from various film critics, has enjoyed a cult following, with a cartoon spin-off (wherein they are joined a purple beaver that acts as the voice of reason) released by Hannah-Barbera in 1995. The film was also responsible for naming Jim Carrey the new "Jerry Lewis," with critics praising his performance despite largely panning the rest of the film.
