Jurassic Park 4 Set For 2015 Release, Universal Pictures Confirms! 'Safety Not Guaranteed' Director Takes On 'Jurassic World' [VIDEO & REPORT]

Jurassic Park 4 is set for release on June 12, 2015, Universal Pictures announced Tuesday.

The much-awaited fourth installment of the hit Jurassic Park movie series has been named 'Jurassic World,' and Steven Spielberg will not be directing.

The film, which comes 14 years after the previous installment, 'Jurassic Park III' and about 22 years since its original installment came out in 2013, will come in 3D and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Trevorrow, who is famously known for 'Safety Not Guaranteed' is said to direct the screenplay for the film, he co-wrote with Derek Connolly. Pat Crowley and Frank Marshall will be fellow producers of the new movie.

Though storyline details have not been disclosed, the filmmakers have already confirmed that 'Jurassic World' will be set on Isla Nubar, the island featured on the first Jurassic Park set.

Reports stated that original stars from the blockbuster hit, Richard Attenborough and Jeff Goldblum, are to reprise their roles as John Hammond and Dr. Ian Malcolm, but Universal Pictures has not confirmed the rumor yet.

'Jurassic World' filming was scheduled to begin in July 2013, but the Independent said that it was postponed since Trevorrow and Connolly had to work on an original draft of the script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.

Variety reported that the filming was postponed to give Executive Producer Steven Spielberg enough time to write notes on the revised script.

The first three films of the movie series have earned a whopping $1.9 billion. Additionally, the re-release of the original film in 3D this year brought in $144 million worldwide.

According to CS Monitor, the 3D re-release did very well in China, quickly landing the top spot at the box office in late August.

Meanwhile, the original release of the first installment obtained $970 million globally, beating another Spielberg top-grossing film, 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.'

The two sequels that followed in suit were launched in 1997 (The Lost World) and in 2001.

The new film is scheduled to release in a competitive year for blockbuster sequels including: 'Man of Steel,' 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' and the new 'Star Wars.'
