Bill Nye The Science Guy WIth Swingin' Moves On Dancing With The Stars [VIDEO & REPORT]

Almost everybody equates the name Bill Nye to science; which is why it comes to a shock to see him as part of the new cast on Dancing with the Stars.

Billy Nye the Science Guy, who is 57 years old, will be facing off against other celebrity contestants such as Nicole Polizzi (better known as Snooki, of the notorious MTV reality show, Jersey Shore), professional athlete Keyshawn Johnson, professional dancer Corbin Bleu, Valerie Harper, and Leah Remini among others.

He confesses to being nervous, but he will be partnering up with professional dancer partner Tyne Stecklein.

"I watch myself on video, I'm so bad. It's extraordinary," Bill Nye admitted, "the guy has such horrible posture, he's so pigeon toed- how can he even move around on Earth? He's so uncoordinated."

He says he is nervous but confident in his partner, who despite being new in the competition is "a world class athlete." They will be doing the cha-cha on the Monday night premiere of the new season on ABC, with Nye declaring that he is "In it to win it!"

The only dance background the science guy has any claim to is swing dancing, which he says he loves, and its international interpretation, called the jive. He is hoping that "there would be some transferable skills. I'm just hoping against hope that there are skills that can be transferred."

Nye hopes that his presence in the show as a celebrity educator will raise awareness on science and its importance in the classroom.  His dancing team will be called "Hot Knowledge," and says that The Planetary Society logo will be prominently displayed on their costumes, right next to Billy Nye's costume staples-the bow-ties.

Dancing With the Stars is set to premiere tonight, at eight in the evening, on the ABC network.
