Former LSU running back Leonard Fournette secured an endorsement contract with Under Armour. Pursuant to the agreement, he will become Under Armour's endorse for several years.
The NFL running back will be the latest addition to a string of endorsers that Under Armour has under its belt, ESPN reported. The shoe and apparel company said it had looked at several athletes before choosing Fournette.
Closing an endorsement contract is not easy. Not all athletes have or will have endorsement contracts. Sports clothing and apparel companies are usually picky about their choices.
While some athletes earn a lot of money just by being the best in their game, not everyone is worthy of a contract. As much as possible, sports clothing and apparel companies like Under Armour pick someone who is free from scandal and can be considered one of the best in their sports.
Fournette joins the rank of other athletes who won endorsement contracts from Under Armour, The Advocate reported. The list includes quarterbacks Tom Brady and Cam Newton and wide receivers like Julio Jones and Demaryius Thomas.
The 22-year-old athlete expressed excitement at the prospect of representing Under Armour as its endorser. He has been wearing Under Armour products since high school and had played in one of the games sponsored by the sports clothing and apparel company.
The young athlete recently left school to focus on his sports. He signed with the agency Roc Nation Sports. An ankle injury that he got during his junior season may be cause for concern, but the athlete is quick to reassure that he is doing fine and that the injury is not affecting his training.
As part of the deal with Under Armour, Fournette will be modeling several products of the company. The endorsement may also include services like training and how to be fit. Jobs & Hire previously reported that Under Armour is one of the companies that promised to bring jobs to the U.S.
