Ben Affleck has finally broken his silence and responded to the online backlash his upcoming Batman portrayal has been receiving ever since news confirming it was released, Yahoo! reported Tuesday.
On a 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' appearance Monday, Ben Affleck responded to the tremendous online backlash he has been receiving after confirming his Batman portrayal opposite Henry Cavill's Superman in a 'Man of Steel' 2015 sequel.
"I'm a big boy. If I can handle an Oscar snub, I can handle anything," Affleck jokingly said, referencing his statement on the infamous exclusion he got from the Best Director category for Argo, which bagged Best Picture at the Oscars this year.
Ben Affleck revealed that Warner Bros. already warned him in advance of possible negative feedback from fans out of his Batman portrayal.
"The people from the studio said, 'We want to talk to you because people go through this process and it can be a little trying'." Ben Affleck said. "They said, 'We want to show you some of the reactions that past cast members have got on the internet'."
Jennifer Garner's husband also shared that he didn't avoid the web in the wake of the big announcement last month.
"I saw the announcement, I look at the first comment and it's like, 'Ben Affleck is going to be Batman' and the first one goes, 'Noooooooo!,'" the father of three said.
According to Yahoo!, Ben Affleck's Batman or Bruce Wayne in the Zach Snyder-directed film will be an older, wearier version of the DC comics icon, which was previously portrayed by several A-list actors as well including: Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale.
Affleck admitted that he was discouraged at first saying, "I thought, 'I'm not 25 man and are you sure about this?' And they said, 'Come down, we want to show you what we're doing,' and it was incredible."
Meanwhile, Ben Affleck is reportedly acting lead for 'Gone Girl' feature adaptation next to model-turned actress Emily Ratajkowski.
