Beyonce debuted her baby bump this week at the 2017 Grammy Awards. As the pop star is expecting twins, all eyes were on the “Formation” singer, and everyone was in awe when she tilted back in her chair without flinching while performing “Love Drought” and “Sand Castles.”
The 35-year-old is thought to be 20 weeks pregnant, and many are speculating that she might have a problem performing at Coachella this year, as it was previously reported that she is slated to perform at the music festival in April.
But it appears that all systems go for the “Lemonade” singer as sources told Jezebel that her plans to perform at the spring music festival remain unchanged, so long as her health is up to par. By then, it’s likely that she could be 30 weeks along, as the singer has yet to disclose how far along she is with her pregnancy. Indeed, Beyonce is slaying, even while pregnant with twins.
Working women who have been there before know that there are some challenges that come with being pregnant while working. But just like Beyonce, there are ways to deal with these challenges, and you’ll find that things will be a breeze while you’re expecting your bundle of joy.
Here are some tips on how to slay at work while you’re pregnant.
To deal with nausea
It’s normal to experience nausea during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. To deal with this, you could try taking your prenatal vitamins at night, as some women get nauseous after taking them in the morning. You could also eat small, frequent meals and drink water to curb the nauseous feeling. Keep some Saltines, a bottle of still water, and a few healthy snacks in your desk to munch on during the day. Crystalized ginger chews are also great for keeping that nauseous feeling at bay.
To cope with that sleepy feeling
You’re going to feel sleepy when you’re pregnant, so instead of fighting it, take a nap. Keep a small pillow in the office so you’ll feel more comfortable when napping.
To solve that “nothing fits me” dilemma
You can always go to a maternity store and buy outfits to accommodate your growing belly, but if you don’t want to spend too much on work clothes, check your closet and your partner’s closet to see what you can work with.
A man’s button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up looks great over a pair of leggings. Dress it up with accessories, a nice pair of flat shoes and a bag in a striking color. You could also wear any of your empire waist dresses, which skims over your belly or wrap dresses which will highlight your baby bump.
If there’s one thing that you have to buy for yourself, get a pair of maternity slim-cut black trousers, as this one item can take you from work to date nights with your partner. Pair it with a loose, printed blouse and a cardigan, and you’re all set for the day.
To deal with unwanted attention
Pregnant women often have to deal with both positive and negative attention in the office. But remember that you don’t have to give any information that you want to give, such as your baby’s gender, the baby’s name, or whether you’ve gained any weight. If anyone remarks on how “tired” or pale you are, just be polite and say that you’re fine and you’re doing really well.
