Apple recently released its new iPhones to the public, with huge crowds lining up to get their hands on the newly released models.
Apple has since pitched their new iPhone, the iPhone 5c, which was made of different materials compared to the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, hence also making it more affordable to users who want a sleek, sophisticated iPhone, but without having to pay so much more for the fancy aluminium lining.
However, it seems like buying the iPhones with the fancy aluminium lining is a smart investment so far.
The iPhone 5c has been tested to be a significantly more vulnerable to damage compared to its aluminum-backed predecessors, suffering more damage after being dropped, than the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 5s.
Apple has been known to make more durable models of iPhones every new release, making the iPhone 5c an anomaly in this trend.
The damage testing is a review done by SquareTrade, who tested the new iPhones, as well as a variety of other newly released smartphones for their durability. The tests include inflicting all kinds of imaginable damage to the new smartphones to test their chances of survival-well, until the new models come out, anyway.
Sasmsung's Galaxy S4 was tested to be the weakest, after multiple tests that had it submerged in water and dropped from a height of five feet, after which it immediately stopped working.
Google Inc.'s Moto X, the first phone designed by Google (who now owns Motorola) resisted SquareTrade's torture. It is the first smartphone ever to be assembled in the United States.
iPhones, which always came out with stronger models every upgrade, disappointed many with the relative weakness of the iPhone 5c.
The iPhone 5c is reportedly a less-expensive smartphone than its iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s cousins, and was said to have had a better front-facing camera, and comes in a variety of other colors.
