Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Glee Season 5 SPOILERS: A Season Without Finn, A Tribute To Cory; Who Will Make Guest Appearances?

By now Gleeks are obviously aware that there won't be an on-screen happy ending for FinChel (and off-screen as well), but a Glee starts to roll its fifth season, everyone is still expecting to see even just a few clips of that familiar form, the quarterback, who swept not only his leading lady's feet off the ground but everyone else's as he lunged "Don't Stop Believing" while taking a shower in Glee Season 1.

Four seasons has definitely passed so quickly, we tend to forget that everything has changed not only on the line-up of characters for the show (guess that's why they're called "New Directions"), but as well as the fate of its lead star Rachel (Lea Michele). But can we expect to see her at least relatively happy this new season?

In Glee season 5 episode 1 titled "Love, Love, Love," the New Directions pay tribute to the music of the legendary Fab Four: The Beatles. As expected, we get to see them revive classical hits and turn them into more upbeat to fit the context of today's generation. However, we didn't expect to see Rachel reliving the iconic NYC date with her ex-fiancé Finn (Cory Monteith) way, way back in Season 2.

Back then, everyone was hoping a happy ending for the on-screen, off-screen couple after they spent some romantic time together in their first trip to New York with the New Directions for the Nationals. The two ate dinner at Sardi's, met Patti LuPone, strolled over Central Park's Bow Bridge, and even made everyone's heart skip a beat after sharing a tender moonlit kiss.

Flash forward to now and we see our lonely Rachel reminiscing every moment of that iconic date by wandering over the same Central Park bridge and strolling past Sardi's restaurant while vocalizing one Beatles classic "Yesterday." The scene in Glee season 5 episode 1 will depict how the show's struggling lead star is hoping to relive the previous years, wishing that even just for a split second her lover could join her in yesterday (sobs!).

"Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. Oh, I believe in yesterday. Why he had to go, I don't know," she sings on the premiere episode.

Meanwhile, Glee season 5 episode 3 is said to be a tribute to the death of Cory Monteith as well as to his character Finn Hudson. The episode, titled "The Quarterback," will feature tear jerker performances as tribute and as a celebration of the late actor, who died on July 13 in Vancouver at age 31 from drug overdose.

Producers have already leaked that the entire cast of the show, including the actors who have already parted from the Fox series, will sing "Season of Love" as tribute song for Finn and Cory. The song is an emotional rendition that was first featured in the Broadway show "Rent."

According to E! News, original cast members will make appearances in the stand-alone episode including: Amber Riley (Mercedes), Mark Salling (Puck), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Change), and Jaayma Mays (Emma).

Other characters who will come back for the special episode will be Kurt's father Mike O'Malley (Burt Hummel), Finn's mother Romy Rosemont (Carole Hudson-Hummel), and Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Bieste). Nevertheless, to the disappointment of several fans, Heather Morris (Brittany) and Finn's first love interest, Dianna Agron (Quinn), won't be making an appearance.

"We're in the middle of filming [the tribute], and it's incredibly hard," Matthew Morrison told E!. "We've mourned Cory, but now we're mourning Finn. So it's kind of like two people in that one person."

Ryan Murphy, the show's creator, initially revealed that Finn was to die in the series of an accidental drug overdose, but decided to change the script and didn't mention the cause of death of the character. "We have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that," Murphy told Deadline. "Basically, what we're doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died."

On other news, WetPaint revealed that Amber Riley (despite her crammed schedule due to Dancing With the Stars) and Mark Salling (who has recently signed on to star in a new TV movie) will join the new Season 5 cast for another episode, Glee season 5 episode 4 "A Katy Or a Gaga." So looks like Glee is still Glee with the original characters making guest appearances every now and then.
