Recently, a man becomes controversial due to his uncommon condition and appearance. The 22 year old Xiaolian had an accident that leads his nose to be on his forehead. "The first time I saw it on the news, I said you gotta be kidding", Linda, a housewife stated.
This "Believe It Or Not" kind of incident circulated in the internet which becomes an instant viral hit.
Xiaolian happened to have an accident last August 2012 that made dramatic changes on his physical appearance. After the said accident, he had an infection oh his nose, which affected his breathing pattern.
To get Xiaolian's normal breathing back again, doctors in Fuzhou, Fujian performed an invasive plastic surgery procedure called "flap prefabrication", where they intend to develop new nose again. In the said procedure, surgeons will get part of Xiaolian's skin and cartilage from the bone, then implant it to a comfortable area, this time in the forehead.
Physicians will then let it grow, waiting for the blood to carry oxygen that leads to the new nasal reconstruction. Surgeons provided a good prognosis to Xiaolian's constructed nose. "Nose will be carried out soon", Daily Mail said on their report.
The truth is, Xiaolian is not the first who underwent the said procedure. Last year, a British national also went through flap prefabrication due to nasal cancer. But the said British patient has his nose in place to original nasal area, which appears quite normal and unnoticeable unlike Xiaolian's forehead location. "The man must look the same as before to retain his ability to smell", the surgeon said.
The said procedure will take at least six months to grow. With the advancement of technology, surgeons consider flap prefabrication as one of the safest reconstructive surgery.
