Sinead O’Connor Writes Open Letter To Miley Cyrus; “Don’t Let Them Make a Prostitute Of You”

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Miley Cyrus recently mentioned singer Sinead O'Connor as one of her biggest influences, stating that the wrecking ball video was partially inspired by O'Connor's "Nothing Compares To You" video.

With this, O'Connor took Miley's statement as a signal to write an open letter to Cyrus and give her some motherly and caring advice. In her well-meaning letter to Cyrus, O'Connor advises the music star, who has had her share of crazy antics as of late, to stop everything that she was doing.

The lengthy letter touched on the fact that O'Connor was concerned about the way Cyrus was behaving, the people she was surrounding herself with. She went on to say, "I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way 'cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos,"

Connor also touched on the subject of prostituting. She made it clear to the younger singer that she may not be aware of the way the music business may be "prostituting" her.

The Irish singer was also considered very controversial during her heyday, and was most well known for her unabashed criticism of the Catholic Church. These days though, O'Connor concentrates more on women's right issues.

O' Connor also said in her letter, "Real empowerment of yourself as a woman would be to in future refuse to exploit your body or your sexuality in order for men to make money from you".

However, instead of the letter being met kindly, Miley Cyrus responded to O'Connor with a barrage of old tweets from O'Connor, from the time when she was asking people for help after an alleged suicide.

O'Connor has not taken kindly to the tweets and has threatened Cyrus with a lawsuit.
