Emmy-nominated actress, Kerry Washington, is set to host Saturday Night Live with Eminem as the musical guest.
The star of 'Scandal,' is set to take the SNL stage on November 2, with Eminem taking the musical guest seat. Eminem will release a new studio album, 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2,' 3 days after the episode airs. This will be Eminem's fifth time to appear on Saturday Night Live, while it will serve as Washington's first.
The casting and selection of Washington hosting Saturday Night Live couldn't be more timely, after cast member, Kenan Thompson ranted in an interview with TV Guide about the lack of colored actors and actresses hosting the show. Before joining the comedy ensemble of SNL, Thompson became a household staple during his days with Nickelodeon in 'All That' and 'Kenan and Kel.'
"It's just a tough part of the business. Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready," said Thompson in the interview, as posted by The Hollywood Reporter. Washington's scheduled appearance will hopefully give justice to Thompson's observations.
Before playing Olivia Pope in ABC's 'Scandal,' the talented actress famously appeared in last year's Quentin Tarantino-directed Oscar contender, Django Unchained with Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson. Washington also appeared in A Thousand Words, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith during the early stages of her career.
Edward Norton is set to host the SNL episode a week before Washington fills in the guesting spot, with Janelle Monae as the musical guest. The 'Fight Club' actor is set to star in Wes Anderson's latest cinematic spectacle, 'The Grand Budapest Hotel.'
