Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2 are the latest flagship devices of two Korean companies that took the world by a storm since Android was established as a mobile phone OS. Although the LG G2 was released ahead of the Galaxy Note 3, it is still unavoidable to compare these two given that both sport 5-inch plus screens, making them two of the leading monster phone devices available in the market today. In a nutshell, we can easily see that these two devices are very different not only based on their design form but on the phone categories they fall under: the Note 3 as Samsung's latest phablet installment and the G2 as LG's successor to the LG Optimus G Pro, the 5-inch monster phone flagship of the company.
Specs-wise, both phones have bigger than average display and in terms of battery they also play in the long-lasting performance team. Since both devices have almost the same specs and features, we are only to look at the things that set one apart from the other.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Over LG G2
As a phablet entry, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a bigger screen at 5.7' inches, about .5 inch larger than that of LG G2's 5.2-incher. Samsung's screen is enhanced in terms of brightness and display, all thanks to Samsung's SUPER AMOLED technology that goes pretty well with the 1080p resolution. The display is never boring and washed out even when viewed at various angles.
Samsung galaxy Note 3, as the newest installment of Samsung's Note series, still has the distinct stylus of its predecessors, but thinner and much more lighter and has that Samsung Galaxy S4 build. What's absolutely important to note about Note 3's stylus is the fact that it now has more functions due to the improved S Pen features of the device. As for LG's G2 it doesn't have a stylus since it is mainly designed to be a monster phone and not a phablet. LG has its own phablet entries the LG Vu and the Vu 2 and the upcoming Vu 3, which may not be up to par with the Note series in terms of specs and features, but has solid demographics because of the peculiar footprint due to their square-ish form.
Phablet build aside, Samsung galaxy Note 3 has better multi-tasking functionality than the LG G2. Its 3 GB of RAM make it the one of the fastest if not the fastest device to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
Finally, Samsung's newest phablet entry beats almost every other smartphone in the market today when it comes to video recording. It comes with the 4K Video Recording feature that ensures users stellar video quality albeit in compromising situations.
LG G2 over Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Aside from officially dropping the "Optimus" from its name, the LG G2 definitely packs some charms of its own that, without a doubt, crushes the Note 3 in one way or the other. First is the stunning almost completely bezel free design of the device. LG has really done a great job in maximizing the display without adding an inch or two to its former build. What makes it more interesting is the IPS True-HD + Full HD Display, which may not be as bright as Samsung's Note 3, but it does make the 1080p look warm and totally pleasing to the eyes, with less straining despite long hours of viewing.
The compact build of LG G2 is also one thing that gives it an edge over the Note 3 although the latter has also improved in cramming superb features in a solid and more compact body compared to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Interestingly, because of the compact design of the LG G2, the company has to retool the buttons and place them in an area far from normal reach - at the back along with the camera and the LED flash - but is quite ergonomic to the hand.
While Samsung's Note 3 flaunts an advanced video-recording technology, LG G2 also has its camera feature to brag about. The G2 has Optimal Image Stabilization, which may not be that useful in low light, but is quite commendable in taking shake-free videos.
