Lady Gaga has agreed to pay an undisclosed settlement after an ex-assistant claiming that the singer owed her more than $400,000 in overtime pay.
Working for celebrities can sure get ugly and stressful. The "Artpop" singer has finally put an end to a lawsuit that was filed in 2011 by settling to pay an undisclosed amount. Jennifer O'Neil used to work for Lady Gaga as a personal assistant, and claims she was unpaid for a total of 7,168 extra hours when she was "on-call."
The trial, which was set to play out on November 4, was put to a halt when Gaga's attorneys say that the singer was willing to give the assistant a certain amount of money. Details of the settlement are being kept away from the public's gaze to avoid any complications caused by the media.
The plaintiff, O'Neil, says that her base salary of $1,000 per week did not account for the time she spent with the singer in outrageously demanding instances. In a past report by E! Online, O'Neil then went to reiterate that she was always there "not only in her home, but also during her travels to her global concert tours, from city to city throughout the world, at locales including stadiums, private jets, fine hotel suites, yachts, ferries, trains and tour buses."
Though the lawsuit may have reached a settlement, Lady Gaga made sure to let out a piece of her ballsy mind on the whole fiasco.
"She thinks she's the queen of the universe," Gaga said pertaining to O'Neil, as reported by E! Online.
"And you know what, she didn't want to be a slave to one, because in my work and what I do, I'm the queen of the universe every day," Continued the "Applause" singer.
"You don't get a schedule. You don't get a schedule that is like you punch in and you can play...at your desk for four hours and then you punch out at the end of the day. This is when I need you, you're available," menacingly concluded the star in the same testimony.
Surely, Gaga learned the hard way that being a diva has its price.
