Charlie Hunnam Explains Reason for Quitting 50 Shades of Grey

The 'Sons of Anarchy' star, who was initially casted for the role of Christian Grey in the high profile movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey, broke his silence about leaving the role just after a month it was officially announced.

The 33-year-old blonde banked his name in the limelight by playing Jax Teller, a motorcycle rebel and club gangster in FX's Sons of Anarchy. It was not long until big time directors started paying notice to the Brad Pitt lookalike, and producers of the green-lit 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation surely had their eyes on Hunnam to play the challenging role of billionaire Christian Grey. Unfortunately, Hunnam had to jump off the project, not only because the role entails a sexually challenging portrayal, but also due to his busy schedule.

Hunnam revealed to E! News that his busy schedule and commitments on shooting Sons Of Anarchy was the main reason for his dismissal of the 50 Shades role.

"I am just really concentrating on work. It's been a really busy time," says the actor in a report by Celebuzz. Hunnam went on to say that after finishing the last season of Sons of Anarchy, he will reunite with Pacific Rim director, Guillermo Del Toro for a suspense entitled "Crimson Peak."

Hunnam did not seem fazed by the disappointment fans and producers felt when he announced that he will be departing from the project. Instead, he expressed that he is more saddened over the fact that Sons of Anarchy is ending in the near future.

"It's obviously going to be a really emotional time for us. We are like a family and have become very, very close and become dear friends to each other so it's going to be sad and finish up and say goodbye to everyone," stated Hunnam in the same E! News interview as reported by Celebuzz.

"I just want to finish that strong and go on to a new chapter of life"
