President Obama is planning to change old fashion marine look for the Corps in order to make it more "unisex". Nevertheless, by doing so, Marine's iconic caps also known as "covers" would look "girly".
"We don't even have enough funding to buy bullets, and the DoD is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women's hats!" one senior Marine told NY Post. "The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous."
An internal memo obtained by The Post, points "the Marine Corps is being encouraged by DoD to standardize on a unisex/universal dress and service cap."
Currently, both male and female wear different caps for each gender.
New hats style, that looks too French to some Marines, has been called as "the Dan Daly cap", after a World War I sergeant who won twice the Medal of Honor.
Next Friday, Marines' votes will be counted and final decision will be made on whether the new caps will be adopted or not.
"Requiring all troops to use the Daly cover will cost $8,221,958," informed The Post. "Going with the traditional cap will save $284,043, because the current female caps are more expensive."
According to the leaked memo, none of the members liked the idea of a universal cover for all Marines.
