Titan -arm's Iron-man Like Exo-skeleton Grants Super Strength

Now you don't have to be Tony Stark to afford super-strength enhancing armor. A motorized strap on bicep that is being called Titan Arm was created by engineering students from the University of Pennsylvania.

Made primarily of aluminum and steel components and runs off a DC battery power supply. The Titan attaches to your right arm, with a motorized joint at the elbow. According to it it's inventors was designed to fit in a comfortable manner that imitates the body's natural range of motion.

The current design which came about from a combination CAD software , 3d printing and CNC machining, spawned the Titan's current ergonomic form. The current design now looks more like a small back with football pads attached to it. The arm can also be locked in place with a ratchet brake to stabilize the object being lifted into any position and making it easier to carry.

While It is still a far cry from the car lifting strength of Iron-man , the arm itself can lift 40 lbs so it augments the users natural strength, so if you can heft 60 pounds with one arm the Titan-arm helps you lift a hundred with the same ease. It's aim is not to help you bend metal bars but prevent fatigue and improve lifting posture, as poor posture causes most injuries. It was originally designed to aid in physical therapy and manual labor, though it could also be a great aid to the elderly. The group of inventors aimed to keep the cost on so it would be affordable to the general public.

There are few safety concerns that the Titan Arm's inventors want to have air tight before putting it on the market. The students realize combining machinery to the human body has the potential to injure the user even when their goal is the reduce injuries in the workplace with this. Back problems are currently the leading work related injury with 600000 being reported every year and costing the economy fifty billion dollars a year.

The invention has already earned the inventors ten thousand dollars at the Cornell Cup and said to be in the lead to win this year's Dyson award. Who knows maybe models released ten years from now will find the titan armor quadrupling the wearers and make our comic book dreams come true, until then there is always the gym, it works for Bat-man.
