And one of which is the campaign she will most likely sign up for. On one hand there's Josie Marcus' (guest star Lisa Kudrow) campaign and the other is President Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn). Of course Liv will find it hard to decide since Marcus has already fired her before while Fitz has this undeniable connection to her mother's demise. But now that even Mellie is convincing her to take on Fitz's campaign, will she give in and serve the person, who just might be the one who killed her mother? In a sneak peek for this Thursday night's episode "Icarus", we can see Olivia breaking her silence and mustering her courage to ask the President on the truth behind his involvement in the operation Remington. But Fitz will be feigning his ignorance by shoving off Olivia's question and telling her that he does not have any idea on what she is trying to ask of him. Although it was shown that Fitz might be the one who went on an Iran mission to shoot an airliner, where Olivia's mom is unfortunately one of the 300 passengers who had died upon the crash, we are certain that there is a good explanation behind this. Most probably, everything will fall into place once we find out who's behind Fitz's mission. Like does he have a boss or something. Meanwhile, in a recent interview for the Hollywood Reporter, Goldwyn dished a few things about his character's involvement in Olivia Pope's mother's death. "He didn't know; he is completely in the dark. I can't tell you how Fitz finds out, but he had no idea about it. In that same way, he has no idea that Rowan is Olivia's father." Goldwyn said, adding, "As far as Fitz knew, he was a young special forces' pilot and doing black ops operation and he had no clue. Operation Remington was a dark chapter in Fitz's career..." On other news, The Hollywood Reporter wrote recently that the "Scandal" team has already tapped actress Khandi Alexander to play the role of Olivia's mom, Maya Lewis, who is set to start appearing tonight. Alexander has signed for a recurring role since throughout the rest of the season, we will be seeing more of Olivia's mother through flashbacks.
