(MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN) Nine years ago 16 year old Connie McCallister disappeared from her Wisconsin home. Yesterday, it was reported that the missing teen was found in Mexico. McCallister's family believes she was forced into Mexico, however authorities have not confirmed.
Forced or free will, it is evident that Connie McCallister had made a life in Mexico that included a husband, three children and different identity.
According to Yahoo News, after McCallister vanished in 2004, she did phone her mother however would not reveal her whereabouts. The 26 year old now reveals that she was at a party, drugged, and then dragged to Mexico by her boyfriend who was 22 years old.
Abuse entered into their relationship and McCallister eventually married a different man while in Mexico, says Judy Weise, a friend of the family. Wanting to come home desperately, McCallister just didn't know where or how to make that happen from the destitute destination, imply's Weise.
Ultimately discovered by a Mexico based missionary who contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, police then interjected to bring McCallister home.
Immigration issues intend to delay her return, so in the meantime a fundraiser to assist McCallister's departure from Mexico is being coordinated by The Trinity Lutheran Church of Athens. Weiss, who employed by the church advised that McCallister is hopeful of her husband coming to America as well.
Information regarding the 22 year old boyfriend is what you would expect of any predator-type personality. It is speculated that he fooled her with kindness, took her to a party and then refused to take her home. It is also reported by the Daily Herald Media that the boyfriend is facing unrelated charges of sexual assault.
Reports say that McCallister could not free herself from the boyfriend's grips, and was regularly drugged and beaten. Repeated pattern from a second boyfriend, post kidnapping, is also a factor here. It is believed that boyfriend #2 fathered one of her children according to Weise.
McCallister also changed her identity while in Mexico which really makes you question her desire to come home. After all, she was missing for nine years without a word to her family and friends.
