Actress Mariska Hargitay, best known as the tough Law & Order: SVU detective Olivia Benson, got her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just next to her mother actress Jayne Mansfield.
After 14 years of solving crimes for the series, Hargitay joined the "VIP" club of 2,511 stars that have had their hands printed for the eternity in the history of Hollywood so far.
"I am so moved by you and so grateful to all of you and you're what, as I said, makes today possible," Mariska Hargitay said.
Dick Wolf, creator of Law & Order, and Oscar-winning actress Hillary Swank, joined Hargitay during the ceremony at 6328 Hollywood Blvd. Friday night.
On the show, Olivia Benson's career is product of her mother's rape and encouraged Hargitay to found Joyful Heart Fundation in 2004 to help sexual abuse victims.
Hargitay debuted in 1985 in a horror-comedy film "Ghoulies"; in 1986, she was member of the cast of "Downtown" police drama; in 1995, she was part of the comedy "Can't Hurry Love" and in 1997, she joined police drama "Prince Street".
She has participated in popular television series like "ER", "Ellen" and "Seinfield".
