The body of a teenager who was killed in 2009 appearing in a satellite image of Google Maps, offended his parents as they are struggling to get it pulled off from the imagery service.
In the image, it is possible to see the body of 14-year-old Kevin Barrera and two police officers standing near him.
"When I see this image, that's still like that happened yesterday," told Barrera to KTVU. "And that brings me back to a lot of memories."
In response, Google officers said they are doing an exception and accelerating the replacement of the image with an update.
"Our hearts go out to the family of this young boy. Since the media first contacted us about the image, we've been looking at different technical solutions," said the statement from McClendon. "Google has never accelerated the replacement of updated satellite imagery from our maps before, but given the circumstances we wanted to make an exception in this case."
According to McClendon, they believe the image will be down within eight days.
Kevin was shot to death and found along the railroads in Richmond, California, in 2009.
