Brie Larson and Emilia Clarke Shortlisted for the Next Sarah Connor in New Terminator Movie

Brie Larson and Emilia Clarke are on a very tight race to fill Sarah Connor's legendary shoes. The two actresses are said to be on the forefront of who will be the next Sarah Connor in the new Terminator film to be directed by Alan Taylor.

There have been rumors for some time that the role will go to the Clarke as the Game of Thrones star has had a previous working relationship with Taylor who has directed several episodes of the HBO hit. But many are saying the Brie Larson shouldn't be counted out as the talented young actress has proven her acting chops time and again, mostly in small independent roles.

Taylor who directed fall's superhero smash hit Thor: the Dark World is keeping mum about the whole process and has yet to confirm who the next Sarah Connor will be. The role, which was popularized by Linda Hamilton in the first and second films of the franchise, is a key piece in the franchise. As for who will play John Connor, future leader of the Resistance, talks of Tom Hardy being cast has also been incredibly prevalent.

Announced in July of this year, the fifth installment in the long running franchise will include the classic characters of John Connor (previously portrayed by Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl and Christian Bale) and Kyle Reese (originally portrayed by Michael Biehn). Arnold Swazenegger has been said to return to his iconic role but no confirmations as of yet.

Should the role go to Brie Larsen, fans will be treated to a tougher exterior of the actress as the actress has yet to show how she would fare in an action movie. She was last seen in the Joseph Gordon -Levitt directed Don Jon, while Emilia Clarke was seen in Richard Shepard's Don Hemingway.
