Kanye West Clears Up Fake Claim of Him Being the Next Nelson Mandela

Rap Superstar and Kardashian baby daddy Kanye West has responded to the satirical stories that he has claimed to be the next Nelson Mandela. The story was published by a joke news outlet called The Daily Currant, and was immediately picked up by the media as something Kanye West would definitely say.

Kanye West took to Twitter to refute the fake declaration and tweeted a very solemn statement quite unlike his ordinary tweets. "I'd like to address the false stories and noise that have been engineered by the media. Despite recent media reports, I've never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders ... At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind. Thank you, Mandela, for your life's work and may it serve as a guiding light to illuminate our future," the rapper writes.

In the fake story, their version of Kanye West was quoted as saying "Not to say Mandela wasn't for real ... I just think we need to keep things in perspective here. Anyone can be replaced ... By the time I'm 95, I'm going to be a bigger hero than [Mandela] ever was ... I liberate minds with my music. That's more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever" in a bogus interview with a made up radio station in Chicago.

Still, who can blame the people for immediately believing the hype? It seems like Kanye has compared himself to everyone from Jesus to Shakespeare to Willy Wonka. This probably won't be the last of the comparisons that Kanye West will make; by the time his next album comes out he will probably have moved on to his next idol, supplying the rest of the world with more sound bites.
