In the newest twist of events in the ongoing case of domestic goddess Nigella Lawson versus her two assistants on the case of fraud, the two sisters who were adamant about Lawson's drug addiction, Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo, have asked for her forgiveness vis-à-vis spending an inordinate amount of money from Lawson and former husband, Charles Saatchi.
As it turns out, the two sisters who were under the employ of Nigella Lawson and Saatchi were taking from the household fund that was entrusted to them as personal assistants. The Grillo sisters were said to be spending an estimated 700,000 pounds on credit cards, purchasing designer clothes and hand bags.
Prosecutors read the email that the sisters sent to Lawson and Saatchi: "We are at our utmost despair and we are reaching out to you in the sincere hope that somewhere in your hearts you will find a way to forgive us and believe that we never meant in any way to seem to be disloyal or to seem like we took advantage of our positions."
"There is not a worst feeling thinking we have in any way let down our family and we are deeply sorry and full of regret. All we want to do is... make amends." The email continues, inferring the fact that the Grillos considered Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi as family, even saying that they considered the two as parental figures.
The end of the letter explains that what the Grillo sister want now is to settle the case (in or out of court, it was not specified) and just end the public nightmare. This probably comes as a relief to Nigella Lawson who has been in a lot of hot water lately because of the sisters' accusations of her being a notorious drug addict.
No word yet on what Lawson's team has decided regarding this matter. As for now, the trial is still continuing.
