If you are looking for a night of good music and jazz this holiday season, then you're in for a treat. Chris Botti, the iconic jazz trumpeter and composer, is spending his 9th Holiday Residency at Blue Note in New York beginning December 16 and will run through January 15 next year, according to BoradwayWorld.com.
Botti has become America's largest-selling jazz instrument artist after he released his critically acclaimed album When I Fall In Love in 2004. He became even more successful when he crossed the world of pop music and combine it with his background in jazz.
Botti spent the early part of his career playing the music of Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, Joni Mitchell, and Paul Simon. His prominence came with his 2001 recording of Night Sessions CD through which he gained a reputation for being a versatile musician in which he fused the styles of pop and jazz together. Since then, he has established himself as one of the most innovative people of the contemporary music world.
Botti was nominated in the Grammy award in 2008 for his album Italia. In 2010, he received three Grammy nominations for Chris Botti in Boston, a live album. Four of his albums reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard jazz chart. Botti won the Grammy Award in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category in 2013.
He was with the syndicated talk show The Caroline Rhea Show as the leader of its house band for its only season in 2002-2003. In 2004, People magazine named Botti as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People of that year.
If you're interested in a night of jazz wonder, the tickets are $40 at the bar and $75 for table reservations. The Blue Note Jazz Club is offering a special New Year's Eve promo. It includes a champagne, toast, hats and noisemakers. An a la carte menu will be available to early birds, according to BroadwayWorld.com.
