The country singer, who recorded over 100 hits, passed away peacefully at his home in Texas on December 16, Monday afternoon. Price was 87 years old. His family confirmed his death minutes after the news leaked out. The singer has been hospitalized during the last months of his life as he was fighting pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease late last year.
On Thursday, December 12, Ray Price left a heartwarming messages to his fans and supporters: "I am at peace. I love Jesus. I'm going to be just fine. Don't worry about me. I'll see you again one day."
The family's spokesman, country radio veteran Bill Mack, stated that Price's wife, Janie had called him to deliver the news about the singer's death. According to his status update on Facebook, Mack, stated, "Ray Price left for heaven at 4:43 PM Central Time". "He went in perfect peace." According to reports from the AP, Billie Perryman, wife of Price's family friend Tom Perryman, also confirmed the death of the country singer.
Price, who has been battling the cancer since 2011, was discharged from the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler a week before he died. Price's son, announced on Twitter the death of his father on Sunday, and then revoked it as he has been "deceived by some cruel people."
The singer has seven No.1 hits and more than 100 songs on the Billboard country music chart between the years of 1952 and 1989.
