Parents of Arapahoe High School Gunman Speak Up After Long Period of Silence [VIDEO & REPORT]

Parents of Arapahoe High School gunman Karl Pierson released a statement about the tragedy which occurred on Friday afternoon. Pierson walked in the school carrying a machete, a shotgun, and Molotov cocktails. He then began his shooting spree leaving a fellow student Claire Davis seriously wounded. Minutes later, Pierson shot himself in the school's library.

In lieu of the tragedy, Mark Pierson and ex-wife Barbara released a joint statement expressing their remorse and sympathy for the Davis family.

"We are shattered by the tragic events," the couple said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Claire Davis and her family. They, and she, have suffered unimaginably, and we pray for her full recovery. We also pray for the entire Arapahoe High School community, as we know your lives are forever changed by this horrific event."

According to The Denver Post, Mark Pierson contacted them to discuss the school's discipline and its implication to his son. He informed the newspaper and he and Barbara has been attending disciplinary talks with the school officials early this year. He also stated that the school officials, including the debate coach and the librarian should answer to the questions probing about the interactions that they had with Karl.

"I'm not the guy who is going to have the answers on this," Mark Pierson said. "Tracy Murphy is the key player."

Meanwhile, prayers and support pours out for Claire Davis who remained in critical condition as of press time. More and more people offer their prayers and some left notes showing their support for Davis. White cups bearing the text, "Pray 4 Claire" are seen on the fence of Arapahoe High School.
