SHOCKING: 17-year-old Colorado School Student Fatally Shot By Prom Date, Student Gunman Kills Himself

Colorado school shooting victim Claire Davis died of head injuries due to a gunshot wound in the hospital where the student had been receiving treatment.

Davis' family confirmed her death on Saturday using Littleton Adventist Hospital's Facebook page. The family confirmed that the 17-year-old victim of the Colorado shooting passed away due to the gunshot wound the girl received on December 13. at Arapahoe High School. 

"Although we have lost our precious daughter, we will always be grateful for the indelible journey she took us on over the last 17 years - we were truly blessed to be Claire's parents. The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger," said Davis' parents on the page.

Littleton Adventist Hospital also released an official statement about the 17-year-old victim's death, mentioning that Claire Davis died around 4:29 p.m. Saturday.

Last December 13, Davis became the victim of Karl Pierson, 18, who stalked into Arapahoe High School demanding to see one of the school's teachers. Davis had reportedly went to prom with the shooter earlier this year.

At the time of the Colorado school shooting, senior Claire Davis happened to be sitting with a friend in a spot directly in the shooter's way, confirmed police reports. The victim had no chance to duck for cover.

One of the armed officers guarding the school was said to have prevented the shooter from killing more students when he chased down Pierson after the 18-year-old started randomly shooting in the school's hallway. The killer killed himself shortly after being confronted by the same officer.

Claire Davis had slipped into a coma after receiving the blow eight days ago and had not awakened once before passing away Saturday.
The community held vigils and helped the families of the Colorado shooting victim raise funds for the large medical bills accumulated.
