Kristen Wiig: "Anchorman 2" star Kristen Wiig to become director in 2014

Kristen Wiig announced earlier that she would like to focus her attention on directing for 2014.

The actress, known for her spot-on comedic delivery in "Saturday Night Live" and "Anchorman 2", wants to work behind the camera for year 2014 and pursue directing.

Kristen Wiig shot to stardom through her comedic talents, first through "Saturday Night Live" and then a barrage of hit comedy films such as

Bridesmaids which the actress wrote herself but she said that it is time to shift her attention on one of her longtime dreams.

"That's what I'd like to start focusing on later this year," Kristen Wiig shared to Moviefone in an interview. "Maybe something someone else has written. Maybe something I have written. I'm not sure. I'm starting to look at stuff now. But that's been an ambition for a long time."

Wiig also shared that she still remains unsure of exactly the film she wants to take on for her first big break as a director but insisted that the film would not likely be a box-office hit. "It's just going to have to be the right material," the comedian remarked. "It being my first thing, it'll probably be something smaller. I'm not going to be directing the next Hunger Games. I don't think they're going to come to me!"

Kristen Wiig also said that she wasn't completely abandoning acting. The actress still has four projects in the future and will also star in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" which will premiere on December 25.

Wiig shared that she had become part of the Walter Mitty project after meeting actor Ben Stiller during a hosting stint in SNL. The "Bridesmaids" actress remarked that Stiller brought up a new project he was working on and wanted Wiig to be a part of it. Stiller sent over a script to her and Wiig loved the Steve Conrad-written screenplay after going over it.

Kristen Wiig did voice acting for How To Train Your Dragon and starred in the recently released Anchorman 2.
