Irvington shooting -- a gunman opened fire in a crowded strip club on Christmas morning, killing three people and injuring two others, confirmed police investigators.
Gunshots were heard just after midnight on Christmas at Slick's Go Go Bar located on Nye Avenue, said police officers in the New Jersey city. The Irvington shooting incident reportedly stemmed from an argument between one of the patrons and the bar's bouncer, who was attempting to stop the drunken, armed men from the entering the premises.
The dispute had turned for the worse and got bloody when one of the drunk patrons opened fire on the bouncer who had become the Irvington shooting's first victim.
Following the bouncer, the Irvington shooter also shot the club owner's son who tried to mediate the situation. One of the bouncer's friend who had tried to help had also fallen victim to the shooter soon after.
The Irvington shooting did not stop there and the gunman continued opening fire in the premises in his drunken state and injured two more people.
Investigators confirmed that the strip club had almost 100 people inside it during the time of the Irvington shooting. Witnesses who saw the event shared that they heard shouting and a scuffle in the club's entrance just before 7 to 15 gunshots rang out.
"It appears the gunman was trying to enter the bar armed and was stopped by the bouncer," reported Essex County Prosecutor's Office's Chief Anthony Ambrose.
The victims of the Irvington shooting included 34-year-old Pierre Clervoyant and 32-year-old Woodley Daniel. The third victim's identity remains unconfirmed by the police.
The injured patrons of the strip club have been identified as a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old man and have been rushed to the University Hospital for immediate treatment following the Irvington shooting.
Family members of Irvington shooting victim Pierre Clervoyant, whose father was the owner of Slick's Go Go Bar, shared that Pierre had been trying to mediate the argument when he was shot by the gunman.
