Beats by Dre box at Walmart contains four cans of Tuna instead of headphones, family raises concern over disappointing purchase

Instead of finding Beats by Dre headphones inside a legitimately purchased item box at Walmart, a family was shocked to see that it contained four cans of Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light tuna instead. The said Beats by Dre headphones was supposed to be the biggest Christmas present Carmen Lopez, 14, will be receiving this year, but as it turns out her family has become a victim of a bizarre happening.

According to Yahoo!, Steve Lopez, Carmen's dad, ordered the famous headphones online during Walmart's Black Friday sale. In an interview for KCPQ Q13 Fox News Steve said, "This is what I picked up here and it was wrapped in plastic. So I thought they were legit."

Apparently, when they went to a local Walmart store to raise their concern, the store didn't offer them what they want in return. "Wal-Mart had said they would only give us a refund, at least the store did which didn't sound right, because I just really want my headphones at this point. Because I was really looking forward to them," Carmen said.

Although they were given a refund, it will not cover the current cost of the Beats by Dre headphones since they ordered it at a discounted price then. So the Lopez's reached out to the Walmart corporate office and are still waiting to hear back from them.

Interestingly or not, the Lopez's do not regularly purchase tuna since their youngest daughter is actually allergic.

Meanwhile, it was very fortunate that the global account manager of sales for Beats by Dre, Lindsay Merkle, heard about the Q13 story. Merkle was reportedly visiting her family and said, "Last night my father and I were watching the news and saw the unfortunate gift fiasco...So we said, 'OK, let's solve this problem today.'"

Lindsay, who was then traveling with some of her company's Beats by Dre newest headphones generously offered to give a pair to Carmen. "I can only imagine what was going through her head. So hopefully this will help her be a little bit happier and get something that she was actually looking forward to on Christmas," Lindsay said.
