China said that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is not welcome to visit China after the Japanese leader paid homage to Japan's war dead, according to MSN News.
According to Qin Gang, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Prime Minister Abe's visit to Yasukuni Shrine in central Tokyo had made the relations between the two countries even more bitter. Qin said that China has closed its doors for dialogues with Japan.
"Abe's hypocrisy in his claims of prioritizing relations with China and hopes for dialogue with the Chinese leaders has been fully revealed," Qin said at a regular press briefing. "The Chinese people do not welcome him. Now, Abe needs to admit his mistakes to the government and people of China, cut loose from the past and make a new start."
When Abe visited the war shrine, China reacted which resulted in the escalation of tensions over a territorial dispute between the two countries. News reports said that the relations of the two Asian powers have reached its new low when China announced its air defense identification zone that covers territories including those of Japan.
Tokyo has repeatedly requested a dialogue to resolve the dispute but Qin's Monday comments show that China would not accept any Japanese request. The recent remarks from Beijing are part of a steady criticism the country has launched against Japan and was exacerbated by Abe's shrine visit.
Japanese politicians' visits to Yasukuni have long caused friction with China and both Koreas, the report said. It is a very critical issue to begin with because of the 2.5 million war dead enshrined there that includes 14 class A war criminals from World War II. Among the dead were national leaders who were either executed or died in prison or during their trials after World War II. Japan colonized Korea and occupied parts of China, often brutally, before and during World War II.
"They are the people who masterminded, launched and carried out the war of aggression against China," China's Qin said of the Japanese war criminals. "Their hands are covered with the blood of the victimized peoples. They are fascists. They are the Nazis of Asia."
