An Arizona woman was arrested on Dec. 28, Sunday, after being accused of poisoning her four children with narcotic drugs and killing her ex-husband by stabbing him on Christmas Day in Casa Grande.
According to an undated booking photo from the Casa Grande Police Department, 35-year-old Connie Villa was arrested by police officials after reportedly luring her ex-husband to her home and stabbing him with a knife several times before the man could escape and drive himself to a nearby hospital.
After being released from the hospital, Connie Villa was taken in by the police on Sunday on charges of four counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree murder on Christmas Day in Case Grande, a town 50 miles away from Phoenix, Arizona.
The presence of an attorney representing Villa was not immediately confirmed. The possible motive for the crime was not disclosed by officials but police representatives did not find any history of mental illness during the initial investigation.
Investigators confirmed that there were no previous calls to the woman's home.
According to the investigators, the woman's ex-husband, Adam Villa, attempted to contact 911 shortly after escaping from the apartment with several stab wounds all over his body. Connie Villa's former husband remained confined in the hospital until Monday when his condition finally stabilized.
Police officers who responded to Adam Villa's call discovered the body of Connie's 13-year-old daughter, Aniarael Macias, in the bathroom, confirmed Officer Thomas Anderson of the Casa Grande Police Department.
Macias' body showed no obvious signs of trauma or injury and the autopsy performed on the body did not tell the cause of death, Anderson shared in an official statement.
Investigators are waiting for the results of toxicology tests, which may take up to a month before they are release but authorities believe the girl may have been poisoned by her mother.
