Ex 'Sopranos' star Lillo Brancato Jr. Gets Emotional, Released After Nearly 10 Years Imprisonment

Former 'Sopranos' star Lillo Brancato Jr. will celebrate the New Year outside his jail cell this year after finishing his nearly 10-year confinement.
Lillo Brancato Jr. was released from jail on Tuesday morning after nearly 10 years in the slammer for a botched house burglary case that resulted to his partner killing a police officer who caught them on the scene of the crime.

Brancato was released from confinement around six months earlier than planned for fulfilling disciplinary and educational requirements, confirmed Hudson Correctional Facility in an official statement. As part of the former star's early prison release, he will  be given parole conditions such as a curfew, added officials.

The former "Sopranos" star posted about his release through the Twitter account administered by one of his friends on Sunday, saying "this is my last full day in prison."

"Thank you for your love and support," he told his fans. "I love you all!" the actor said in his Tweet.

Lillo Brancato Jr. was charged and found guilty of attempted burglary in 2005 and was consequently sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

During the incident, police officer Daniel Enchautegui who had been off-duty that time had just come home after working the night shift when the officer heard the sound of breaking glass in the empty house next to his own, said officials.

Officer Enchautegui dialed 911 before going outside to check out the cause of the sound, only to encounter Brancato and his partner, Steven Armento.

Brancato's accomplice shot the police officer in the chest, after which Enchautegui fired his own gun and shot the two men several times.
The police officer was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Brancato's accomplice Armento is currently serving a life sentence without any chance of parole after being found guilty of killing the police officer.
