"The Newsroom" creator Aaron Sorkin denied a report claiming that he and series lead Jeff Daniels have a rocky relationship with actress Olivia Munn.
Olivia Munn, who plays a talented but socially awkward reporter alongside Jeff Daniel's egoistic yet kind-hearted lead anchor character in "The Newsroom," was said to have a bad relationship with the series creator and the lead actor by a report spread through the internet.
Aaron Sorkin immediately responded to the claim, coming to Munn's defense on the matter.
"The story bears no resemblance to reality," the series creator said in an interview. "Olivia is a perfect cast member who is loved and respected by the entire cast, by the crew and the producers, by HBO and especially by me."
Sorkin's obvious high regard for Olivia Munn was obvious by the praise he lavished the actress.
A source said to an online news site that Olivia Munn's "know-it-all attitude" annoyed and angered Daniels and Sorkin so much so that it created a "poisonous atmosphere" between her and her colleagues on set.
The source claimed that Olivia Munn did not get along with Sorkin and Daniels because of her annoying personality and made the shooting of the show awkward and frustrating for all of them.
Based on "The Newsroom" creator's response to the matter, it seemed that the source had Olivia Munn confused with the character she played on the show, Sloan Sabbith. Her role has a quirky, know-it-all personality that usually annoy the other characters at first but eventually charm them.
Daniels nabbed an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2013 for his role in the television show and is also set for a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Despite the popularity of the show, there has been no official report yet regarding the series' third season premiere date. HBO confirmed a third season for the series in September, following lead actor Daniels' post mentioning that the series' renewal was official, saying, "we are excited about proceeding to a Season 3 and are continuing our conversations with Aaron about schedules."
