'"Isabelle the Dancer" made her New Year's debut in Chicago where young girls lined up on Wednesday morning at Water Tower Place to be among the first in America to purchase the latest doll of the popular series.
The American Girl line is a comprised of dolls featuring girls of various races, passions as well as physical differences and disabilities. The specialty line also features a book detailing her unique story together with each doll.
The new American Girl doll for 2014 will be sold together with a book detailing the story of 10-year-old heroine Isabelle Palmer who is an aspiring dancer studying ballet a a prestigious performing arts institution.
With a talent and passion for designing ballet costumes, Isabelle Palmer experiences a few obstacles, including having a hard time adjusting to a new environment. In the story, Isabelle struggles with self-doubts plaguing her mind about her dancing abilities until she overcomes it and makes use of her ability to help other people.
The new American Girl book will also feature the true-to-life stories of real girls who were brave enough to follow their own creative passions in life.
American Girl dolls are available in stores with the same name found nationwide, retailing at US$110 per doll, with accessories for each doll costing a few extra dollars.
In the specialty line's 2012 holiday catalog, the Special Sparkle section featured a miniature service dog complete with harness, a detachable hearing aid and a special allergy-free lunch kit.
American Girl's Isabelle doll collection will be available for purchase on Jan. 1, 2014 and will remain available for girls for the entire year.
Throughout 2014, American Girl will be revealing several interactive initiatives related to the Isabelle collection, such as a learning guide, apps, a virtual dance school for young girls to explore creative arts and special events that will highlight craft activities and dance demonstrations.
