Oscar Winners Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were spotted ringing in the New Year in Hawaii, fueling rumors of a budgeoning new relationship between the two Hollywood big names.
A source close to the stars confirmed that the 38-year-old actress made a quick getaway to the island without 2-year-old son Jackson in tow in order to spend the holidays at Sean Penn's seaside home in Oahu, Hawaii.
Charlize Theron showed off her rocking body in a striped bikini top and stylish black bottoms while relaxing at the beach.
The actress also reportedly took several quick dips into the sea before going to back to relax in the shade with her two close friends.
The 53-year-old "I Am Sam" actor surfed in the Pacific on Tuesday afternoon while Theron relaxed on the beach and soaked up some Hawaiian sun clad in a sexy multicolored striped bikini.
The two Oscar winners met up later on with a male friend and enjoyed the sunset together, chatting and sitting on the sand.
Theron and Penn were spotted getting off the same flight on Wednesday evening at LAX airport.
The source added that the two stars left Theron's house in separate cars on Thursday. The two were seen leaving Theron's home in Hollywood Hills, Calif. around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 2. The 38-year-old actress reportedly emerged from her home's security gates in her Lexus while Penn followed with his truck.
Rumors of a relationship between Theron and Penn first popped up back in 2010 a few months after Charlize Theron's controversial split with ex-husband Townsend.
In recent news, the celebrity pair were also spotted looking close and very flirty at a Halloween party hosted by Seth McFarlane last October 2013.
"They were laughing and touchy-feely," confirmed the source.
Their relationship status remains unconfirmed as the two have yet to comment openly about the issue.
