Veronica Mars is at it again: solving mysteries, investigating crimes, and possibly falling in love all over again. You read it right, the TV series that ended its run seven years ago is finally back, but this time it is going to hit the big screen just so Veronica can satisfy the craving of her "Marshmallows" who are dying to see her back in action.
E! News dropped the bomb Thursday night when it debuted the first trailer for the big-screen adaptation of the former TV series.
Kristen Bell, who recently starred in "Frozen," is reprising her titular role of Veronica Mars, who is now a "big-shot New York lawyer."
In the movie, Veronica's ex Logan (Jason Dohring) will get accused of a bizarre murder, leading Mars to creep back into what she does best: solving cases. Along the way, Mars will be compelled to go back to her hometown to attend her 10-year high school reunion.
Most if not all of the show's cast members are back to reprise their roles once again. Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen, Krysten Ritter, and Amanda Noret have returned for the movie adaptation. Nonetheless, there are also notable additions to the cast such as Jamie Lee Curtis and Justin Long.
Veronica Mars was a teen private eye series which first aired on the UPN before it landed the CW from 2004-2007.
It can be noted that the plan to come up with a movie adaptation seemed to be a long-shot at first, but show creator Rob Thomas' move to launch a Kickstarter campaign proved to be beneficial since it raised over $5.7 million from the show's supporters.
CBS News reported that the filmmaker's initial fundraising goal was only at $2 million, but because of its 91,585 backers the production managed to earn the whopping figure, which ultimately secured the movie's realization.
In return, contributors and supporters of the film received incentives such as T-shirts, DVDs, and other items, according to Today.com.
Moved by the show supporters, Kristen Bell tweeted today in time for the launching of the movie's official trailer saying, "YOU GUYS MADE THIS POSSIBLE. I can never say it enough: Thank You. Xoxo #VeronicaMarsMovie @veronicamars."
"Veronica Mars" is set to hit AMC theaters come March 14 prior to going off to a video on demand release.
