Natasha Leggero's Pearl Harbor Veterans Joke: 'I'm Not Sorry,' Comedian Responds To Twitter Attacks [VIDEO & REPORT]

Natasha Leggero has withstood the heat she'd received for her joke about Pearl Harbor veterans by refusing to apologize and responding with a few hard-hitting remarks of her own.

Comedian Natasha Leggero responded directly to the backlash she has been receiving for a joke she had made on NBC's New Year's Eve broadcast, saying "I'm not sorry" through an open letter she posted on Tumblr Friday.

In NBC's New Year's Eve live broadcast, the comedian had been discussing about a tweet posted by SpaghettiOs on Pearl Harbor day with the show's host, Carson Daly. The infamous tweet featured the SpaghettiOs mascot raising the American flag, telling Twitter users to "Take a moment to remember #PearlHarbor with us."

During the chat, Leggero had quipped, "I mean, it sucks that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew," referring to SpaghettiOs.

The joke had prompted a seemingly endless stream of backlash and attacks on Twitter for Natasha Leggero, not a few of which involve tweets with threatening or sexual harrassment intent.

"In the past few days I have been called a c--- so much I felt like I was in a British pub rooting for the wrong soccer team," the comedian wrote in her open letter.

Natasha Leggero added, "I wish I could apologize, but do you really want another insincere apology that you know is just an attempt at damage control and not a real admission of guilt? Let me just try instead to be honest."

Leggero also explained her side through her open letter, saying that the comedian has too much "respect for veterans than to think their honor can be impugned" by the jab she had made about dentures. The comedian pointed out several real problems that currently plague veterans such as sexual assault against female soldiers, inadequate care after retirement, PSTD among others.

Through her letter, Natasha Leggero mocked her attackers, challenging them to play a more active role in helping war veterans with the issues they are currently facing.

"Where do you think your outrage and action would be better served, calling me a c--- or doing something about the above problems?" the comedian wrote, followed by encouraging her own readers to give back and donate to the Disabled Americans Veterans Foundation.

After coming clean on Tumblr, Natasha Leggero received a barrage of support and positive response from actors and comedians such as Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Amy Schumer who share her opinion on the matter.
