Crystal Bowersox came out with style when she admitted her true sexuality through her latest single, "I'm Coming Out For Christmas."
The former "American Idol" runner-up's new song not only tugged at the heartstrings but it also served as a confession for Bowersox who had previously been plagued by rumors of her sexuality.
Bowersox's "I'm Coming Out For Christmas" tells the story of a struggling young woman calling her home before the holiday season and telling her mother in uncertain terms that she is gay.
The former "American Idol" finalist described her coming out "overwhelming positive," according to a local, gay community media outlet.
Crystal Bowersox, who had been virtually unknown before debuting into the music through the singing competition, had been the first female to reach the finals in three years in the seemingly male-dominated "American Idol."
After her stint in the singing competition, Bowersox shed off her famous dreadlocks and also released two albums. "Farmer's Daughter" was released in December 2010 while her follow up album "All That For This" wasn't released until three years later in March 2013.
Bowersox had been the target of rumors before regarding her sexuality following her time on "American Idol." In 2010, the singer married former husband Brian Walker whom she divorced in 2013 after three years of marriage.
Crystal Bowersox admitted to struggling with her sexuality during her teenage years. The singer added that she wrote "I'm Coming Out For
Christmas" hoping to help other people who are struggling with their sexuality and coming out to their family members and friends and to inspire those who are hesitant and afraid to come out.
Bowersox reportedly received nothing but positive response for her newest single.
In order to put a stop to rumors, the former "American Idol" runner up also recently posted a tweet, confessing to being bisexual.
