Bruce Jenner, Kris Jenner's former husband, knows firsthand how hard it is to deal with a split from a Kardashian and the former athlete shared a little of his experience with Lamar Odom.
The former Olympic gold medallist, who divorced Khloe Kardashian's mother last year after 22 years of marriage, spent more than an hour on the phone with Odom on New Year's Day to help the basketball player keep a positive state of mind.
According to a source close Jenner, "He told Lamar to forget about everything that happened in 2013 and not drag all the drama, defeats and embarrassments with him."
Bruce Jenner also reportedly told Odom to avoid websites and turn off the television as well as not to listen to any gossip circulating in the media about him, saying, "It will eat you alive and ruin any progress if you stay in the past."
Jenner allegedly gave Khloe Kardashian's ex-husband "a lot of advice and mental support" to help the troubled basketball player keep positive and sane amid the craziness surrounding his recent divorce with the reality TV star.
30-year-old Khloe Kardashian put an end to the four-year marriage with the 34-year-old basketball player in September last year, following allegations claiming Odom cheated on her with several women and abusing illegal drugs.
Lamar Odom is reportedly worried about how he will be portrayed in the latest season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," the reality TV show centering on the lives of the Kardashian family: Khloe and her sisters Kim and Kourtney.
Bruce Jenner reportedly advised Odom to "hope for the best but expect the worst when it comes to that show and what they're going to reveal because this is how they survive - by putting everything on the table."
Reports that surfaced recently revealed that Khloe Kardashian still remained in contact with her ex-husband, allegedly determined to help the athlete stay sober. People close to the couple however insist that the pair has no plans to get back together in the near future.
