Britney Spears surprised the audience at the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards twice that night: the first time, by bringing along new boyfriend David Lucado as her date and the second, by winning Favorite Pop Artist over ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
The 32-year-old pop star, who had never won a People's Choice Award until Jan. 8, introduced David Lucado, her latest boyfriend, to the red carpet by bringing him along as her date and having him cheer her on in the audience.
The "Work Bitch" singer was ecstatic over her first-ever win at the People's Choice Awards 2014.
"Wow! This is so cool! This is awesome! I was not expecting this," Britney Spears gushed while accepting the award. "It's because of you that I'm able to do what I love to do. I want to thank my family -- my beautiful family -- my boys at home, my management team and all of my fans. I love you dearly. Thank you!"
The 32-year-old has two sons, 8-year-old Sean and 7-year-old Jayden, with former husband Kevin Federline.
Spears managed to win over Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars and crowd favorite Justin Timberlake, who also happened to be the 32-year-old's ex-boyfriend.
The excited singer thanked her fans following her win, tweeting, "OMG! Thank you so much for choosing me as your Favorite Pop Artist! I love y'all so much! Xo!"
The award show marked the first red carpet event Britney Spears has attended with new boyfriend Lucado.
The pair looked cozy and picture-perfect as they sat together in the audience, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners. For the event, Britney Spears sported a hot Mikael D nude ensemble with metallic floral finishing and styled her blonde coif in a loose up-do for the night.
The former X Factor judge broke up with fiance Jalson Trawick in January 2013. Spears has been dating her Virginia native boyfriend for almost eight months. "I just love that he's very passionate and he's funny and he's sexy," the 32-year-old gushed about Lucado in her guest appearance in The Ellen Degeneres show in December 2013. "I don't know, I like him. I just . . . I love him."
