Dr. Scott Lewis, a world-renowned hypnotist was found dead on a fourth floor balcony after falling from his 11th story apartment on Saturday, January 11, according to a Reuters report.
Scott Lewis was performing at the Sydney Opera House for the show "The Illusionists 2:0" with other performers. According to local media reports, Scott Lewis fell from the 11th floor of the apartment where he was staying down to the 4th floor's balcony. Reports say that Scott Lewis was staying with other performers at the building, which is a short drive from the opera house.
As a show of respect, the Sydney Opera House canceled a matinee performance of "The Illusionists 2:0" and dedicated the evening performance to Scott Lewis.
"Dr Lewis was a wonderful performer and he will be greatly missed," the Sydney Opera House said in a statement.
The show's co-producer, Tim Lawson, said the performances would continue.
"The company is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Dr Lewis," Lawson said in a statement. "The entire company has decided to continue the show in his honor, and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."
According to Sydney police, police officers were called to investigate a body of a man found lying on a balcony of an inner-city apartment block in downtown Pymont 9:40 a.m. on Saturday.
A police spokeswoman who commented on condition of anonymity said that investigators have ruled out any foul play in Scott Lewis' death, although they had yet to determine if the death was a result of an accident or suicide.
Dr. Scott Lewis was in Sydney for an eight-day joint performance with other performers at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Lewis is well-known for his television performances and for his solo hypnosis show at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which ran for a record-breaking nine years.
